Lay Responder FA/CPR/AED

Instructor Course

 

24 HOURS - $275.00

The instructor course is designed to train candidates as instructors in Adult, Child, Infant CPR, Adult/Child AED and First Aid and trains individuals to use the "Workplace Safety" modules.  The training consists of the Precourse Session (where all basic levels are tested both in physical and written formats), Fundamentals of Instructor Training, and the Instructor Course.  Candidates must successfully pass the Precourse Session to continue in the Instructor Course.  Upon registration, candidates will receive a letter outlining the course objectives, information on the Pre-course Session, information on sessions 1, 2 & 3.   Prerequisites for this course, in addition to the precourse session, include a current certification in Adult, Child, Infant CPR, AED and First Aid as well as being at least 17 years of age.

Babysitter's Training (R.08)

8 HOURS - $70.00

This course trains young people ages 11 and older basic child care plus how to handle emergency situations.  Child and Infant CPR is now included in our BBST format.  Upon successful completion of the course students will receive the American Red Cross Babysitter's Kit, which includes an emergency checklist, first aid supplies, and a flashlight.  Students will also receive a Babysitter's Training completion certificate.

Special Courses offered during Spring Break and Summer.  Call for times for March and June classes.

Standard First Aid With Adult/Child/Infant CPR

Our most popular safety course, it is great for community needs.  The complete course combines CPR and first aid training to teach participants how to:  Recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants, children and adults:  How to use an AED on Adults and or Children:  Perform first aid for cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, bleeding, sprains, and strains:  Treat sudden illnesses, including poisoning:  Minimize the effects of shock:  Recognize emergencies and take action:  Understand the role of AED's in the Cardiac Chain of Survival.

This course is for individuals whose certification has or is expiring.  Students will display their skills necessary to receive certification.  Students must demonstrate all skills with no prompting from the instructor.  Upon successful completion students will receive the component certificate needed.

 

Challenges are scheduled for Thursday and Friday of each week.  Call to set up a time.

Family Caregiving

$20.00 per training module

Designed to help provide care for a parent, spouse or friend at home and provide the best care possible.  Our modular program lets you choose from nine information-packed sessions.  You decide which ones meet your specific caregiving needs.  The modules are just one hour in length and participant booklets can be purchased from the local Red Cross Chapter to learn on your own.  Either way, you will enhance your skills, reduce stress and increase your confidence so you can provide the best care possible.

CPR/AED for the

Professional Rescuer (r.06)

9 HOURS - $90.00

Designed for any individual who has a duty to respond to emergencies, this 8 hour course combines lectures and video with hands-on skill training.  Key content areas:  Recognizing and responding to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants:  Two rescuer CPR:  Use of body substance isolation precautions to prevent disease transmission:  Use of resuscitation and bag-valve masks:  Use of an AED for a victim of sudden cardiac arrest.

Bloodborne Pathogens

Preventing Disease Transmission

Designed for employees who may come in contact with infectious materials on the job (first aid providers, EMT's, paramedics, fire fighters, health care workers, hotel workers, lifeguards, etc).  The program will include:  Transmission of disease, employer's exposure control plan, emergency and follow-up procedures, and preventing disease transmission.
