Lifeguard Training
Lifeguard (R.06) Training - 2009
Purpose: To teach lifeguard candidates the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Must have prerequisites for course, see below.
Where: The Center @ Columbus Avenue Baptist Church

Time: Evenings, 6 to 10 pm. (hours may vary per instructors discretion)
Cost: $250.00
Days: Monday through Friday (Wednesdays are off)

Prerequisites:
- Be at least 15 years of age by the last sceduled session of the course
- Swim 500 yards contiuously using these strokes in the following order:
1) 200 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breating and stabilizing, propellant kick. Rhythmic breating can be performed either by breating to the side or the front
2) 100 yards of breaststroke
3) 200 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breating and/or breaststroke
- Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to surface and swim 20 yards back to starting point with the object. When returning to the starting point, the participant's face must remain above the water, and the participant must hold the 10-pound object with both hands
SUMMER SWIM LESSONS
The Heart of Texas Area Chapter of the American Red Cross in partnership with the City of Waco will offer swim lessons at the new Waco Regional Aquatics Center.
You can also download the Swim Lesson Registration SwimLessonReg form and mail it in with payment. You should contact the chapter to ensure the time you would like is available.
